Getting ready for a campervan adventure is part of the fun. A little planning helps you travel lighter, settle in faster, and make the most of every campsite stop along the way.

At Campervan House, our standard hire includes the essential kitchen equipment, so you can focus on packing the personal items that will make your trip comfortable.

Plan Your Route

Choose the places you would most like to visit, but avoid trying to fit too much into one trip. Campervan travel is best enjoyed at an unhurried pace, with time for scenic stops, local walks, beaches, cafés and unexpected detours.

How far you are comfortable driving each day

It's important to make sure that you know how far it is comfortable to travel in. If you are planning an epic adventure, then take the time to study the route and plan rests.

Suitable places to stop for food, fuel and supplies

Make sure that you have the route planned out and that you are able to find places to stop and refuel. In some areas although they are beautiful, they can be remote so planning is important.

Local parking restrictions and height barriers

Parking restrictions and barriers are a consideration that you will need to make, especially if you haven't driven a vehicle as large as a campervan before. Make sure that you know where appropiate local parking is and that there are no height barriers.

Whether your destination has suitable access for a campervan

Many destinations are suitable for caravans if you do the research, but others may not be suitable for your trip. It's important to research so there are no nasty surprises.

Book Campsites in Advance

We recommend booking campsites before you travel, particularly during school holidays, bank holidays and the peak summer season. Popular locations can fill up quickly, especially near beaches, national parks and major tourist destinations.
Booking ahead gives you peace of mind and means you know where you will sleep each evening. Look for sites with the facilities that matter most to you, such as:

KEY FACILITY POINTS

Electric hook-up

Pet-friendly pitches

Shower and toilet blocks

Family facilities

Fresh-water points

On-site shops, pubs or cafés

Waste-disposal facilities

Laundry Facilities

Always check the campsite’s arrival times, pitch size requirements and rules for pets, awnings or outdoor equipment before you set off.

Check Your Documents

Before travelling, make sure you have everything you need in one easy-to-reach place.

This is important because you don’t want any nasty surprises when looking for your documents.

Here are important documents that you need to keep with you whilst on your trip, in a safe and easy-to-find location.

DOCUMENTS

Driving licence

Campervan booking and collection details

Emergency contact numbers

Campsite booking confirmations

Payment card or cash for fuel, parking and local facilities

Breakdown and insurance information
